The 1981 team defeated Nebraska 22-15 to win Clemson’s first National Championship. In its second National Championship appearance in two years, the 2016 team claimed the title after defeating Alabama 35-31 in one of College Football’s most exciting games of all time. The 2018 team won Clemson’s third National Championship after defeating Alabama 44-16 and went 15-0. They became the first team to go 15-0 in the College Football Playoff Era.
Clemson leads the ACC with 20 ACC Championships with the most recent coming in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.
Clemson is the first program since the inception of conference championship games in 1992 to win five consecutive conference championship games.
